Because I'm a good little girl...

Queenie
... who does as she's told :D

Oh all right, I'm not THAT good and I probably would have forgotten if [info]alexeden  hadn't nudged me and reminded me to do it. But hey, I guess I have more than one excuse for not thinking about the obligatory birthday LJ list.

That's right! You heard me! It's the dreaded 'B' word, almost as bad as the terrible 'C' word that sees us mournfully looking at our wallets and hoping that the credit card won't max out.

And this year I feel so ooooooooold too... okay so I'm only 22 this year but still! I remember when I was a lass and when we did things a certain way and... okay... NOW I sound old don't I? So I'll stop blethering and give you all the little hints and tips you've all been waiting for to try and find out what will make Lynn a happy Lynn on the 29th of May. 28th officially. Don't ask.

Uni Update

Point and Laugh
I've been something of a ghost recently so I decided that I was going to distract myself from work on the crappy library machines by updating my LJ and letting y'all know that I'm still alive.

So here goes.

I'm still alive.

What you want more? Oh alright then.

Go on, start reading! )

Officially Online!

Helios
Alright so I still have a lot to do but Helios is officially online! So far I only have a photography section but I figure it's better to go back to Uni with SOMETHING online than nothing at all. And even better I coded it all myself, it was tempting to do it all in Flash but then I decided to try and write it all in HTML.

Yes it's very basic but considering that a couple of weeks ago all I could do in HTML was bold, italic, center and occasionally link I think I've done a pretty damn good job :D

So, yay me!
Queenie
.. WAH! It's not working!

Today's the day, the BIG day. Rosie's been off the immuno-supressants for about a month now, it was a vital thing to do. Because today she's in the vet's for a full spay. Normally, they do a keyhole surgery whch leaves 3 little holes they sew back up after tying the tubes. They've decided it'll be for the best if she has a full removal. More risky than usual on an already risky procedure.

It has to be done though, the vets think hormones could have triggered the collapse before, so it was imperritive that she be spayed. And as always, I have a thousand and one worst case scenarios merrily running through my mind.

It'll be fine.. really.. just fine *breathe*

Because I'm bored and copying people ^_^

Heh I'd almost forgotten what you could do with a LiveJournal. Darn work, it's sucking out all my own ideas... if people want my email or snailmail addie, poke me through email. I'm sure there's a contact on here somewhere.

Step One

* Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ/blog. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for [insert seasonal celebration here] is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

* If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ/blog so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

* Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

* You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

* There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Anything from this list, this is my Amazon one and will no doubt get bigger and bigger every time I see something that makes me go 'oo I want it!'

2. Gift vouchers for Daz3D, I need to build up my poser library :D

3. Gadgetty things, gizmo things, things that make me squeal and poke them. Be my friend and introduce me to the novel of USB powered gadgets and doodads.

4. A cleared overdraft and my own flat? Alright so I know that one's being a little bit too wishful but hell I can dream right?

5. My DVD collection is pining for new friends. Got something you think I might enjoy? Send it my way, I will watch pretty much anything and everything especially if it's a good piece of classic horror flick.

6. Crystals. Any shape or form, I can use them just to look at and marvel how pretty they are and also in the sculpturey bits I do.

7. Fimo supplies, jewellery bits. Seen a colour you think I might like? Or a tool I might use? Snatch it up :)

8. Icons for my LJ that are based on coffee or Macs. If you can do one that uses both? Then you'll be really spiffy :D

9. Pin badges! Lapel pins, brooches, whatever you want to call them. Got badges lurking around you want to get rid of? They'll make my bag and map board very happy.

10. A pony. Stuff that I want a Velocoraptor. He'll need a saddle and reins and I'll call him... well I don't know what I'll call him I just want one to ride on. Who needs a Mini Cooper when you could have your own DINOSAUR

Joining the ranks of the working people

Queenie
So, I'm a little more behind in getting a job than I would like, but, I've done it finally.

Yes, I have a job. A real one. With money.

Well almost, the details will come through next week.

As some of you know, Rosie's vet bill went a LOT beyond what the insurance company could recompense. We think it'll be around £4000 in total, maybe more, maybe less. So getting a job has been an absolute must. I need to get at least a little bit of money in my account before I go back to Uni (if I get back in that is)

So, today I had an interview at the Royal Bank of Scotland building in the Aztec West business park in Bristol. Those of you that don't know Aztec, it is HUGE. Home to the head offices of a LOT of big companies. It went well, really well and the recruitment centre that screened me etc before I had my 'formal' interview said that apparently they'd 'love' to offer me a position. (See that? LOVE *grin*)

Naturally I said yes. I mean, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth and if all goes well I'll start on the 17th.

So, I get more details next week, official stuff, contracts etc, but it's fairly straight forward.

The job itself is data entry, helping with the thousands of new accounts they get every year from students hoping to open student accounts before they go to University. I'll be one of the people responsible for getting that info into the database.

The hours are pretty good, it's a 35 hour week - Monday to Friday either doing 8-4 or 9-5 depending on my team leader and the basic rate will be £6.25 per hour though I'm pretty sure it works on target too.

The only down side is that it's about an hour to get in and an hour back of travelling and I have to train and then catch a bus. But it's worth it. Because I get a BADGE! That's right, one of those official photo ID things that you have to wear. Small things please me. Like swipey offical card with my picture on that gets me into a big scary bank building.

So... woo for me! I have a job!

Homecoming

orchid
It's been one thing after another and for a while we really did think that things weren't going to look good. But Rosie's blood is up to 26/7 and so the vets said that she can come home.

The poor thing looks a right state (stay tuned for photo) with bald bits, yellow skin and a bony bottom not to mention everywhere else. It's still going to be a long haul though. Right now she's on about 6 different types of medications to be administered through the day and the vets are saying it's likely she'll be on the steroids for at least 4-5 months as they'll need to slowly wean her down in dosage.

She needs to be spayed ASAP but what they're going to be doing for now as spaying her now would almost certainly kill her is giving her an injection that stops her coming into season until she's a bit stronger as coming into season could well cause a relapse.

We have to take her in for more bloodtests on Monday to see if her coagulation is going back to normal and of course monitoring her PCV. Right now there is still quite a high risk of clotting not to mention the possibility that she could have another relapse. But we're just going to have to take things one day at a time.

Thank God she's insured, otherwise we would have been looking at almost £3000 in vet bills.

Last ditch effort

hug
Blood count dropped to 15 in the morning and then down again to 13 in the afternoon/evening. Rosie was started on Oxyglobin (a highly oxygenated artificial blood) to try and buy more time.

It's not looking good. At this stage, the vets are saying that if after the oxyglobin her count still continues to drop, they won't be able to do anything else so we're going to have to let her go if that happens. It's not fair to keep her going if she's not going to get better.

Going down...

hug
Yesterday she took a turn for the worse, her blood count dropped from 15 to 10 within the hour and she was rushed to Langford Small Animal Hospital for a transfusion.

There's now, a much higher risk of clotting as well as a million and one other things that I don't want to think about.

The biggest worry last night would be that she didn't take the transfusion, this morning we were told they got her count back up to 24 but she'd already dropped to 18 so she's breaking down her cells pretty fast. Her right front paw is apparently really swollen too so they're going to xray it.

Ultrasound on her liver and spleen was clear, waiting to hear about the chest xrays.

I guess no news is good news...
